2Cr 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

In today’s world, the enemy of soul is working hard to put his enticing snares so God’s people will be trapped. He is more focused on the righteous ones, why? because he cannot accept that he is bound for damnation while we have all the chance to acquire the sweet promises of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will do is utmost strength to make sure no one or very few will make it in the end. In order to implement this, he is trying to mix truth with error… its like a little poison in a glass of water.We can’t really taste the poison but little by little we become weak and weaker and later we know we are captured like a prey in his net! There are many ways we can be unequally yoking with unbelievers;

1. When you hangout with worldly friends. We all have worldly friends. We love them because we want them to learn the truth and come to Christ.  Every Christian should feel the zeal to reach out to the lost and share to them the truth.  The intention to hang out with them is very important. What is your purpose of going out with them? Is it to share the truth? If not, there are many dangers  along the way. I have been hanging out with worldly friends in the past and before I become like them, I asked for help from God that He will keep me out from that company. Once you are around them, they will speak of everything they can think and most of them are really really evil. They will start to share about their dirty secrets, they use foul words most of the times, they curse their enemies, and most of all they dressed like the “world.” When an innocent prey starts to mingle with worldly friends, he will start to become like them. One time, I heard a bad word from my little brother. He never knew that I was in the window watching him. I caught his attention and I asked him how he learned to speak those nasty words, and he said he copied it from his friends. As a big sister, I am concern that he is going to follow the path of his friends, so I told my mother about it and its never too late my brother learned his situation and came back on tract. When I was in college, after exams my classmates will go straight way to the bar to drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes. The first time they invited me, I said NO, then there were no more invitations that following that. I have seen that some of my classmates who have never been to the bar were curious and accepted the invitations. At the end of the year they ended up just like them. The few individuals who never wear make up, never drink alcohol, etc at first are now unrecognizable because they completely changed into the image of their friends. There is so called “uniformity”  in them… and if you don’t conform to  their standards, you don’t belong. Christians have their own standards that is found in the Word of God . In Tts 2:14 it says, ” Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

2. Marrying the unbeliever. A lot of bitter experiences happened to the Christians who sailed in the forbidden seas. Most of them were led astray by their husband/wife. Take at look at Solomon, Samson, and many others who fell into the hands of the unbeliever wives. Satan will use the unbeliever wife/husband to take you away from the love of God. If you marry an unbeliever, a lot of clashes will happen. The  unbeliever wife/husband might want to eat abomination food, distract you from keeping the Sabbath, will ask you to go to movies and accused you of not loving her/him if you don’t go, listen to worldly music in loud speakers inside your home and car, feed and teach your kids the same way, and by then you realize you are in trouble. You are becoming weary and just want to have peace with her/him and later you know you are with her/him and forget your duty to God.

Our Great Commission

“Mat 28:19, 20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Every one that proclaims a Christian has a work to do. We are to preach the truth to every places we go. People think that preaching is only for the pastors and ministers but that is a big mistake.   We can teach people in many ways;  through our character by reflecting Christ, by sharing the truth to our co workers, by standing for the truth and not working on sabbath, by being honest at work, by helping the  needy and poor, by comforting the weary and sick, by feeding the hungry, by helping passing out tracts, by offering our prayers to those who are on the field spreading the gospel and helping them by all means, by sharing the truth on youtube, and the list continues.  God’s promise is that he will be with you (us) alway, even unto the end of the world. Wherever field you are working now, continue to preach and share the light of truth to whoever soul you will be meeting. You can start in your own home by making your family a little heaven on earth and you can expand your ministry with the help of the Holy Spirit in your office, in the parking lot,  etc …

Even before my husband and I got married, he was zealous to the work of God. He loves to pass out present truth paper tracts in the parking lots of these sunday keeping protestants, in the parking lots of malls, grocery stores and leaving them in the house porches. When God gave us the chance to meet each other in Dubai, we were passing them out in every houses in the community, outside and inside the professed christian churches, etc… After we got married and I moved here in the US, we continue to do this work. Every night when we take a walk we put them on cars along the way even in the parking lots of the stores where we buy our groceries. One day when he and Bro Craig were passing out tracts outside the walmart superstore, one of the individuals who got the card was upset and called the police and accused my husband of trying to break into cars. My husband was detained by the police; handcuffed under the heat of the sun and told him that people accused him of throwing his urine to people. In short, this very upset individual will do all and will lie just to put my husband in the jail! But the real reason is because my husband was sharing  the message that “Pope is the Antichrist” and “Snnday Worship is the Mark of the Beast.” This is a clear example, brothers and sisters, that a day will come that we that are working for the Lord’s cause will be put to jail for no reason or for false accusations. The enemy of souls will do his best to put God’s people behind bars to stop the work just like Paul and his companions. But this is not going to stop us from doing the work. We even Praise the Lord! It is a sign that our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ’s coming is very soon and we will be going home and meet our dear brethren and family in Christ including those who are sleeping in the grave. We miss all them and we will strive to do our best to push this work by all means to hasten the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ. We can’t wait for our God to tell us, “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord. “Matthew 25:23

In heaven there will be a great Reunion! Amen and Amen…

God’s blessings

It took me months to figure out the reasons why God allowed all these things  to happen in my life.  My father passed away, my mom is left with chains of bank loans, my brother is still in college, my siblings were underemployed, and  I gave up my job in Dubai. For all these things, I can still say “It is well with my soul.” I believe that Satan is attacking my family but the more we were burdened with the cares of this world, the more we lifted up our eyes to the Lord.

Reasons why God allowed me to leave my family and work in a foreign country:

1.  Was able to live with wonderful family.  They  always have a place in my heart. It was a real blessing to know them.

2. Was able to hand out tracts and DVDs in a muslim country

3. Ate Rose accepted Christ Jesus as her personal Saviour

4. Learned a lot from my job in the nursery schools

5. And most of all, I got engaged to a Godly man.

Looking back those days, the blessings and the goodness of the Lord outweighs all the trials and tribulations. To Him be the glory!

the journey continues

Leaving my hometown

I decided to find employment abroad. Doing this will not only help me share the truth in a foreign land, but also to financially support my family. My father was sick with Polyneuropathy, Schistosomiasis, and lately diagnosed with Liver Cancer. I want to help my mom procure his medicines and supply his diet program. But this plan was against the will of my father. He wanted me to stay with him and to take care of him than leaving him. He was crying bitterly that day. But I got my permission from my mother to go. I went away with a heavy heart. I love my father so dearly. He is the joy of my life.

Before I left the country, I dropped by at my siblings’ apartment in Iligan City. I feel the tension inside the room. They didn’t agree that I should go abroad for a job which they believe is not the right one for me or not worth the “LEAVING”. In the morning, none of my siblings woke up to see me go. I packed up my things and looked at them still in their bed. My heart was full of pain that day. I wanted to say goodbye and kiss them but doing these will just hurt me more, so I decided to leave the house with my head down low. I walked out the door with my eyes full of tears. I cried to God, “…I’m still young to pass this way, Lord. I don’t have any idea what lies ahead of me out there, but I trust in you that you will never leave me. Please comfort me.”

The  Nanny Job

y country’s economic situation is going worst. I finally ended up browsing  for a nanny job online. One family from Dubai checked on my profile and they decided to sponsor me. They were Muslims. But the way they conversed with me gained my trust.  They promise to respect my religious principles, a sign that I asked from God before accepting the job offer…

Life in Iran

After a week in Dubai, the family decided to go home in Iran. Together we flew to Shiraz. I know that Iran was the ancient Persia in the Bible. I talked to Elham about the life of Daniel in Babylon (also known today as Iraq) under the leadership of the Persian conqueror, Darius. I shared to her how the prophecy of the kingdoms of this world was revealed to King Nebuchadnezzar and how God helped Daniel interpret it for us to know the future. These things were new to her, and she listened attentively. I stressed to her that the Roman Catholic Church under the leadership of the beast (Pope) will impose the National Sunday law . In the book of John 14:29 states, “And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.” I trust that the Holy Spirit will let her remember the truths I shared to her when these things come to pass. I longed to see her and her family in heaven. They have a character that most professed Christians in this world should have.

The Iran government did not approve my application for resident visa in their country. I need to go back to Dubai and get another job.

My new job

After a week I had a call for a walk-in-interview in a nursery school. On that day, the school hired me. My pupils aged 2 1/2 -3 years old. God knows how I love children so dearly. And He knows that this job is the right one for me.

The Test of Loyalty

“And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations.” Revelation 2:26

One day, the supervisor asked me to work ones every 5 Saturdays. I can feel my strength almost gone from me when I heard that. My heart was so heavy but strong. I told her that I keep the Saturday holy and I cannot do any secular things on that day. She was so persistent, and so do I. She told me that she’s sorry to hear that and she can’t give me the visa if I am not going to work on Saturdays. She said, “Novi, you know how much I wanted you to work with me. But it would be unfair for my other staffs that you are not coming to school ones in 5 Saturdays. Remember that you are in a foreign land. You came here for work. Your God will understand you. Please think about this very well. I will talk you next week for your final decision.” I know that I was tested and I cannot compromise with the world. If I can’t overcome this  test, how will I overcome the next ones…?  I talked to God that night. If the school will give up on me, I will find another job. If there is no job that will exempt me on Sabbath day, then I will go back to the Island.  The next day, the supervisor asked me about my decision. I was confident and told her, “Teacher, my decision is still the same.” I was expecting the worst, but I’m ready for whatever word she would say. She replied in a calm voice, “Okay, there is another option. Instead of working till 5pm, you will work until 6pm so to compensate the Saturdays.” I agreed and praised  God in my heart.

The Law

Some people were convinced by the teaching of their man-made doctrines that the Law is abolished after the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.  So what did the Holy Spirit indwelt Apostles of Jesus Christ believe AFTER Jesus died and resurrected? Did they keep and preach the Ten Commandments as Truth?

Many years after Jesus was resurrected apostles were moved by the Holy Spirit to write these things;

1 John 3:22, “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.”

1 John 5:2 also states, ” By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.”

1 John 5:3 declares, ” For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”

Hebrews 8:10 …I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts

And my favorite verse in the Bible which is found in Revelation 14:12 declares, “Here is the patience of the saints; here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”

By the way, for those skeptics out there that still believe the Law passed away at the cross. Jesus just said in Matthew 5:18 “For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled”. With that said, my question is, is heaven above and the earth beneath still here? And have all prophecies been fulfilled wherein we are in the city of Heaven? No? Then this means His Law is still binding no matter what you may think or have been taught.

As intimated earlier, many still feel the Ordinances abolished at the cross are the same as the Law contained in stone. With that said, is there Scriptural evidence that can put this fallacy to rest that shows the apparent difference between God’s Law contained in stone and Moses’ law contained in ordinances?” (link)

Television

From Nicholas’ page at  remnantofgod.org

“You know, I can’t tell you how doubly grateful I am to be here, because this Is the third time that I have told this story; and each time that I attempt to tell the story, I am as convinced as I am that I am standing before you today that Satan attempts his very best to keep me from it. The week-end that I was at San Pasqual Academy, and Elder Richer was there, I had to drive down on Friday evening; and I encountered three near misses of fatal accidents that night, and it wasn’t just happenstance. This week, as I prepared to come here to Ontario, I have had things happen to me all week long that has convinced me anew of a reality of Satan and the forces of evil.

The story I have to tell to you today is one that I heard when I was a freshman at La Sierra Academy. It was told at the Loma Linda University Church on a Friday evening, and I wish that I could have the man that told that story here before you this morning. But since I don’t, the best I can do is to relate the story to you as best as I remember it, as I heard it that Friday evening.

The story was told about Elder Leo B. Halliwell. Now, for some of you old-timers here today, I know you know who Elder Halliwell is. Some of you younger people may not know him or remember him. He was the individual responsible for starting the mission launches en the Amazon in South America. He did a tremendous ministry during his life, and I am not too certain, but I believe stories have been written about his work there as well as books. The impact Elder Halliwell left on my life that night is one that I hope, somehow, God could help you to have today.

Elder Halliwell told his story shortly after returning from the Amazon. His return to the United States was necessitated by the illness of his wife. She contracted cancer while in South America. It was several years before they realized her illness was serious. They cane back to the States to provide medical care and treatment for her at Loma Linda. Shortly after they came back here, Elder Halliwell was advised by the General Conference that they had a young doctor and his family to replace him in the Amazon, because it was his request to the General Conference that he not return for a prolonged stay to the Amazon; he chose rather to be up here in the States with his wife for her remaining, time.

The young doctor that was sent down to the Amazon was joined later by Elder Halliwell to begin to train him and to introduce him to the various tribes, various leaders, and various workers in the Amazon that he would be rubbing elbows with from day to day. His name I would prefer to withhold, as did Elder Halliwell that night, for obvious reasons. Elder Halliwell spent approximately four months with this young doctor and his family in training, and they became very close during those four months as mission workers often do. For those of you who have been missionaries, I know you know. And then Elder Halliwell returned to the States to be with his wife, arid they kept a regular flow of correspondence between the two families.

Not quite a year later, Elder Halliwell began to notice that the young doctor’s wife was beginning to have a tinge of something in her letters that spelled, perhaps uncertainty, maybe doubt, certainly a sense of confusion and a lack of surety. He couldn’t really put his finger on it, but lie sensed something dramatic was happening. And then later a letter cane from her and all her letter said, in essence, was “Pray for my husband”.

At this point in the story I will go to the wife’s words as she remembers the encounter. She said they had gone down to the Amazon, and after Elder Halliwell had left they felt a challenge and a burning desire to do what used to be done down there. They were young and on fire for Christ. They knew that they were where God wanted them to be. The doctor was a medical doctor, and they opened up a clinic and began to treat the people, to operate the mission launches, and really throw themselves into the work and become totally involved with Christ, and to living His message to those people medically and spiritually.

Then about six months after they had been there, their two little girls, young, small, contracted a very rare disease; and in 24 hours those two little girls died. The impact of the death of those daughters on that young doctor can’t be relayed in words.

He was emotionally destroyed. He was a medical doctor. He supposedly, at that time, without the aid of experience but with the aid of knowledge that he had acquired over a period of years, should have been able to do something to cure disease and illness, sickness, pain, and suffering. And yet, in 24 hours he lost his own two little girls and radically he couldn’t have done a thing. That was hard for him to accept.

It was at this tine, or shortly after, that his wife began to write letters informing Elder Halliwell of the death of their children, and then following with the request, “Please pray for my husband.” He lost interest in everything — in his work, in his wife, in Christ; in the people he was working with day to day. Nothing interested him, nothing could arouse his desire to keep on living and working and doing and performing and accomplishing. And then one day he came to his wife and he said, “Honey, I’ve got to get hold of myself. I knew that something inside of me has crumbled, and I’ve got to find it again, and the only way I know hew is to throw myself back, into working for God. I know that He, and time, and work–the combination of the three together–will be the aid I need in building back the pieces that have fallen apart.” And so, with heavy steps he walked down to the mission dispensary, and he opened up the door, as it had been closed for so long; and it wasn’t long before the word spread around the various villages that said that the doctor was back in again, and they began to come with their sick and their ill to be cured, to be treated. A few days went by and he war beginning to lose himself in his work, and it was beginning to be good for him. He felt the healing that needed to happen inside.

And then one day a very distinguished-looking man came into the clinic for treatment. And when he was brought in to the doctor, the doctor noticed something unusual about this man. He wasn’t like the usual villagers around the area; he had an air of sophistication: an air of accomplishment about him, which was rare to that vicinity. In the course of treating his minor ills, the doctor began to converse with him, to find out who this man was, where he was from, to develop an interest, to open a door. The man talked very intelligently, enticingly so. Pretty soon the man was saying to the doctor,

“We’re going to be having some meetings shortly in a nearby village, and we wart to invite you to come to them.” And further, “I understand that you, as a missionary here, are going to be holding an evangelistic series here soon–is that correct?”

The doctor nodded and said, “Yes.”

He said, “I’ll go to one of yours and see if we both can’t learn something.”

The doctor became interested. In the course of conversation with this man he learned that the meetings that this man was talking about was spiritualism; and he had the reaction that I suppose I would have and you would have. He kind of mentally drew back a bit and he said

“Hey, help,” you know. Wait a minute, what is this? And he said,

“Well, I really don’t think I would be interested, thank you very much anyway. I do appreciate your invitation and your concern, but I really think I’m going to be too busy. I won’t be able to.” The man looked at him, and he said

“Why?” The doctor said,

“Well, I really don’t believe in spiritualism. It is something that I know about, and I don’t want to become involved with spiritualism.” The man began to talk to that doctor and he said,

“Have you ever gone to a spiritualist meeting?”

“No.”

“Then how do you know that you don’t want to become involved with spiritualism?”

The doctor said, “I know through my religion and the teachings of my church. I know what spiritualism is and I don’t want any part of it.”

The man began to work intellectually on this doctor, and it wasn’t long until the doctor felt, “I know about it, I realize what it is–if I have a forewarning of what it is all about then I don’t have to become involved with it, and maybe if I agree, as he says, to go to one of his meetings and don’t become involved, then he, in turn, will come to one of our evangelistic meetings; and there is that slight chance that this one man might become converted. Maybe this is what God wants ma to do.” At that point, that doctor began to compromise. He agreed. He didn’t mention anything to his wife about it because lie felt that It probably would upset her, and rightly so.

A week later the young doctor went to his first meeting, with a little bit of, I would imagine, chagrin, a little bit of uneasiness. But I am sure that he wouldn’t have gone unless he had a feeling of assurance that God’s on my side, I know what this is all about–it’s not going to get me sort of an attitude. He opened up the door of that meeting place and his two little girls came running across the room to him.

“Daddy, daddy, daddy!”

From that point on that man had no more of a chance. He began to attend the meetings regularly in order to see his little daughters. His wife immediately began to notice the difference in his attitude. She had had so much hope that at last he was going to be able to start finding himself again and throw himself back in his work by becoming involved again. They had begun to break open a new relationship when all of a sudden something strange was happening, and she didn’t know what it was, but she felt that it was something more than she could cope with!

And so the letters began again to Elder Halliwell, “Please pray for my husband.”

The man went to the doctor for some time–I don’t know exactly how long–but one night he was sitting in the back of one of those spiritualistic meetings after having a few moments of enjoyable time with his daughters–I don’t know exactly how it could have been–and all of a sudden it was like something physical just shook him and mentally he came to and realized who he was and where he was and what was happening. It was like he was sleepwalking and he just went sick inside with what he had allowed to happen.

After that meeting was over that particular night, he went to the front and he said, “Look, I went to talk to the head guy, you know, the number one man.”

“O.K.” They took him back into a room with a table and two chairs and a lamp. The doctor sat down to wait; pretty soon the door opened and in walked an individual he had seen many times but never really talked to before. The man said, “Yes.” “You know all about me, don’t you?”

“Yes.”

The doctor looked at him and he said, “All right, I want to know something. Because of who I am and once was, because of the training I had, there probably isn’t any chance for me, at this point, to ever disentangle myself from spiritualism. But because of my background and the church that I was raised in, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, I want to ask you one question.” The man said, ”’All right.” The doctor said, “I want to know what it is that spiritualists are going to use in the last days to draw God’s people, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, away from their God and their Bible.” He said, “I know because of the writings of Ellen G. White, I know because of the training and the instruction we’ve been given that spiritualism is going to use. Do you know?”

The man was quiet for a long time and pretty soon he said,

“Yes, doctor, I know.”

The doctor said, “Would you tell me?”

The man said, “Yes, I’ll tell you, but if you ever repeat what I tell you here tonight, you will die in three days.”

And then he told him.

The doctor went home that night–his wife said she didn’t know what time it was hut it was in the wee hours. He went into their bedroom, and he sat down on their bed, ‘turned on the light.

She said, “Elder Halliwell, what I saw in the face of my husband that night I can’t even describe. He was like a ghost–he was white.” She said, “I knew something had happened, something extraordinary. I didn’t know what was happening to him, but I knew something drastic had happened to him that night.” She said, “I asked him.” And he broke down and began to tell her what he had become involved in–what he had seen.

He said, “Honey, I know you are going to judge me harshly, but if it had been you, if you had walked through those doors and seen our little girls–Honey, they were ours: I talked to them, I felt them, I heard them laugh–those ware our girls.”

With tears running clown his cheeks as ha told her he said, “I couldn’t stay away, and by God’s grace and love, I suppose, unbeknown to me, I didn’t come home and tell you and involve you too but I couldn’t stay away.” He said “Tonight, when I went, something happened to me.”

And he told her what had happened, the physical feeling that he had felt, how he had asked to go back in the back room and talk to this man. And then he told her what the man had said and she just begged him, and she said, “Honey, I don’t want to know–don’t tell me–my God, we’ve gone through enough, you’ve endured, you’ve become involved in it, now let’s pray. Let’s get out of this, let’s just leave it alone, and just drop it.”

After a minute he said, “I can’t drop it.” He said, “After what I know tonight, I can’t drop it. I’m going to tell you what he told me, and so whatever the consequences may be, I have to leave my life and my feelings as I feel them now up to the judgment of God.” He told his wife that night, friends, what that man told him would be used in the last days to draw God’s people away from their church and away from their God. It would be television.

And three days later that doctor died.

Now, I don’t know what kind of an impact this may have on you. You may say, Now, isn’t that a phenomenal story; I wonder if it’s true?!! Or you may say, “That’s interesting, but is it really relative to what we know today?” Where are we today? What’s happening? I don’t know how involved you are who are here today; I don’t know how involved you are with television in your home. But I know the Adventist families I know of–the one I struggled through myself–and I can’t think of more than three that don’t have television in their homes. I can’t think of any element that has come into the family unit and society that has done more known damage with wider acceptance than that “Boob Tube.”

It was very interesting to me. I am working and going to school too, so I don t have too much time, and I don’t know what the current television shows are that well, so I went to some young friends of mine–some young teenagers and younger–and I said, “Hey, kids, will you help me with something? I have a project.” I said, “Would you write down as many television shows as you can think of right now, just off the tops of your heads, that have supernatural tendencies in them–you know, like ghosts — and I explained a little about it to them.

In fifteen minutes, friends, this is the list that those kids came up with: “I Dream of Jeannie”, “Bewitched”, “Dark Shadows”, “My Favorite Martian”, “My Mother, the Car”, “Night Gallery”, “The Munsters”, “The Adams Family”, “The Sixth Sense”, “One Step Beyond”, “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir”, “Seymour”, “Chiller”, “The Flying Nun”, “Alfred Hitchcock”, “The Teenage Witch”, “Star Trek”, “Land of the Giants”; then they wont into cartoons: “Superman”, “Caspar”, “The Teenage Witch”, “Milton”, “The Monster” .

Also advertisements that I won’t go into necessarily, but I’m sure if I could challenge you today, those of you who watch a great deal of television, to go home and spend the next week with a piece of paper next to the T. V. Guide and write down each time you see something flick on their screen that has a tendency of either ridiculing God (as in Mother Nature), undermining God, or introducing supernatural powers into the minds of those who are watching it–be it through comedy or terror–I think you would be astounded. And for those of you who may think that television doesn’t really affect people that much–you know, it entertains, you come home after a hard day at the office and it is a good way to unwind because you don’t have to think your own thoughts. To others it may be a tremendous avenue to baby-sit their young children when they don’t have time to spend with them, and they have housework to do, or are visiting on the telephone, or whatever, and they don’t want to be interrupted. You may think that television doesn’t influence the minds of those who watch it, but it is interesting to ma that a survey was done just recently on the effects of television correlating it with the influence of violence in our nation today, and they are making phenomenal discoveries; and all of a sudden something happened and these people who were doing the research turned around completely in their decision and said, “No, it really doesn’t effect the minds of those who watch it, as far as violence, crime, callousness to heinous events that may happen in “day-to-day life.” I wonder why they reversed their decision, when to begin with the team who was made up of psychologists and psychiatrists who would know the effects of elements on the mind, of how it affects a person’s day-to-day life and living–why all of a sudden they would reverse their decision.

And let’s take another consideration–even those of you who may decide to slough this whole thing off on the attitude that it doesn’t really control your mind because you control it. I say, “Good luck to you”, particularly those of you who are parents and have small children. Let’s put this element aside. Let’s take just the element of time alone. I think you would be astounded if you realized, even if you feel you don’t watch much television during the week, if you actually logged the number of hours you spend in front of the television set each week. I think you would be shocked. I asked one family two weeks ago to do it. They are a Seventh-day Adventist family. They have a television set, and they believe in control for the young people in their home. She smiled and said,

“Oh, you had better ask someone else, because we really don’t watch that much television.

I said, “That’s fine. You are just the ones I want to ask.”

They watched, in one week, 32 hours of television, and they didn’t watch much television.

I think, too, of how that Boob Tube has intervened and come between family members, as far as just good, healthy, family communication is concerned. How many homes do you know that you could just pop into in the evening and they would have the television set going on a favorite program, and they would be so happy to see you that they would be willing to turn that television set off to visit with you. How many people would you welcome into your home, good friends, good people that you would enjoy seeing that you would want to invite in on your prime time hours of television? It is strange how we always seem to manage to have time for the things that are really important to us. I think, too, of the type of programs that are watched. I know an organization not far from here–it is a Christian organization–they begin their workday each day with worship. They believe the work they are doing is carrying forward the message of God. They have a burden for where the}’ are and what: they are doing, what they are involved in: they also have a television in their lounge, and every day at noon, without exception, there are 13 people in that Christian Institution who have dedicated their lives to God and his service who can’t make it through the day unless they watch a particular soap opera on the television set in the lounge.

Friends, something is happening to us, and we are letting it happen. We have “been given admonition, instruction. We look around us and see what is happening to our society, to our family units, and yet we sit in our Christian pews and say, “It is all right if we control it and it doesn’t control us.” Where are you ever going to divide that line, or draw that line?

I challenge each one of you today to determine if your television set controls you or you control it!

“CHOOSE YE THIS DAY WHOM YOU WILL SERVE.”

Resisting Temptation

The enemy is working with all his might to overcome those who are striving to live the Christian life. He comes to them with temptations, in the hope that they will yield. But those who have planted their feet firmly on the Rock of Ages will not yield to his devices. They will remember that God is their Father and Christ their Helper. The Saviour came to our world to bring to every tried, tempted soul strength to overcome even as He overcame. Our Saviour proved to every human race that we can resist temptation and not sin. Always remember that when we choose to yield in sin because we think that we are human beings and not perfect, then sin will always be welcome in our life and we can never have the perfect life that will draw us nearer to Him.

There are many ways that Satan employs his tactics especially to the youth, here are some;

When we are invited by our ungodly friends to go to parties, bar houses, clubs, theaters, concerts and those places that you cannot expect the presence of Angels. (1 John 2:15)

For students, cheating during exams, gossiping (Isa 3:16-24)

Wearing of make-up, seducing clothes, jewelries (nose piercing), premarital sex, worldly music, contemporary christian music (Isaiah 3:16-24; Romans 12:2)

drinking liquor, wine, coke, and any unhealthy drinks (Proverbs 23:29-30, 1 Corinthians )

Homosexuality (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

breaking the 10 commandments…(Eccl 12:13)

and the list continues.

“God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” And we also have a part to act. We are not to place ourselves needlessly in the way of temptation. God says, “Come out from among them, and be ye separate, . . . and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters.” If by associating with worldlings for pleasure, by conforming to worldly practices, by uniting our interests with unbelievers, we place our feet in the path of temptation and sin, how can we expect God to keep us from falling?

Ways to resist temptations;

1. Watchful and Prayerful (Matthew 26:41)

2. Keep yourself  from ungodly associations (Psalms 1:1)

3. Read the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy (Acts 17:11; Rev. 14:12; 19:10)

4. Place the Law in your heart (Hebrews 10:16)

5. Remember Jesus (John 14:6)

6. Remember God the Father (Deuteronomy 7:9; James 4:7, 8)

7. Remember not to grieve the Holy Spirit (Matthew 12:31)

8. Remember that your actions done and words spoken everyday are recorded in heaven. (Eccl 12:14; Matt 12:36-37)

Christ has made every provision for us to be strong. He has given us His Holy Spirit, whose office is to bring to our remembrance all the promises that Christ has made, that we may have peace and a sweet sense of forgiveness. If we will but keep our eyes fixed on the Saviour, and trust in His power, we shall be filled with a sense of security; for the righteousness of Christ will become our righteousness. . . .  {MYP 107.1}
We dishonor Him by talking of our inefficiency. Instead of looking at ourselves, let us constantly behold Jesus, daily becoming more and more like Him, more and more able to talk of Him, better prepared to avail ourselves of His kindness and helpfulness, and to receive the blessings offered us.  {MYP 107.2}
As we thus live in communion with Him, we grow strong in His strength, a help and a blessing to those around us. If we would only do as the Lord desires us to, our hearts would become as sacred harps, every chord of which would sound forth praise and gratitude to the Redeemer sent by God to take away the sin of the world. . . .  {MYP 107.3}

To whom it may concern:

This is to inform you that I cannot join the Christmas party tonight due to the fact that I do not participate in any pagan celebration. Christmas celebration is a pagan celebration. Nowhere in the Bible is recorded the birthday of Jesus Christ neither is there any record of any of God’s people celebrating birthdays. The day when Christ was born was made known to no one. Ellen white clearly states it:

“The twenty-fifth of December is supposed to be the day of the birth of Jesus Christ, and its observance has become customary and popular. But yet there is no certainty that we are keeping the veritable day of our Saviour’s birth. History gives us no certain assurance of this. The Bible does not give us the precise time. Had the Lord deemed this knowledge essential to our salvation, he would have spoken through his prophets and apostles, that we might know all about the matter. But the silence of the Scriptures upon this point evidences to us that it is hidden from us for the wisest purposes. In his wisdom, the Lord concealed the place where he buried Moses. God buried him, and God resurrected him, and took him to heaven. This secrecy was to prevent idolatry.” -Review & Herald 12-9-1884

“For the very same purpose he has concealed the precise day of Christ’s birth; that the day should not receive the honour that should be given to Christ as the Redeemer of the world, – one to be received, to be trusted, to be relied on as he who could save to the uttermost all who come unto him. The soul’s adoration should be given to Jesus as the Son of the infinite God.

“There is no divine sanctity resting upon the twenty-fifth of December; and it is not pleasing to God that anything that concerns the salvation of man through the infinite sacrifice made for them, should be so sadly perverted from its professed design. Christ should be the supreme object; but as Christmas has been observed, the glory is turned from him to mortal man, whose sinful, defective character made it necessary for him to come to our world.” -Review & Herald 12-9-1884

“Even Christmas, the day observed professedly in honour of the birthday of Christ, has been made a most effective means of turning the mind away from Christ, away from his glory. ” -Review & Herald 12-9-1890

Please read the papers enclosed for further study.

My family is disappointed because of this institution’s compromise with the world. Indeed “strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:14

With this said, I rather obey God than men. Acts 5:29

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Taking the Board

November 29, 30, 2009

On 28th, we were passing tracts and free dvd’s to the people around Cagayan de Oro City. Nothing compares to the happiness I felt that day. Sharing God’s words to everyone is such a blessing to God’s people. It is one way of showing how much you love God and who much you care about the salvation of others.

During the board exam, I prayed that God will give me the wisdom that I need to understand the questions and to answer them according to His will. I asked the wisdom that He gave to Daniel, Shadrac, Meshac, and Abednego. In Daniel 1:20, “And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm“. Indeed, God’s people are ought to be the head of all the nations. Not in wealth but in wisdom. Deuteronomy 28:13, “And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them.” These are proven through their capacity to interpret the prophecies which are kept undisclosed to the world. But there is a condition, if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God (Exodus 20)…to observe and to do them.

After reading thousands of questions days before the exam, I realized how complex and hard the sentences in them. But I should not be discouraged. In Daniel 5:12, Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting dreams, and showing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar…”

Lastly, I cast all my cares upon Him (1 Peter 5:7) Let His will be done for me.  Luke 1:37, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
